New Scream movie from Ready or Not directors is one year away

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The new Scream sequel from Ready or Not (watch it HERE) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett is set to reach theatres on January 14, 2022, and iconic slasher Ghostface took to the official ScreamMovies Twitter account to remind us that we're exactly one year out from the film's release.

Although the movie is simply titled Scream, it is indeed a sequel, much like 2018's Halloween was a sequel to 1978's Halloween. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox are back in the roles of Sidney Prescott, Dewey Riley, and Gale Weathers, and returning from Scream 4 is Marley Shelton as Judy Hicks.

The returning stars are joined in the cast by Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, and Sonia Ammar.

This new Scream was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, and plot details are being kept under wraps. Vanderbilt also produced the film Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella and Kevin Williamson serve as executive producers.

While the previous films were Dimension releases, this one is coming to us from Paramount and Spyglass.
