Now that we’re left with an empty void after HBO’s True Detective debuted it’s stellar finale last night, it’s time to look to the network’s other champion, Game of Thrones, which kicks off it’s fourth season next month. Today, we have a new trailer to help build that excitement. Focusing on the many secrets it takes to keep the world of Westeros on its toes, there’s plenty of new footage in the trailer, taking us deeper into the consequences of previous season’s events, most of which hinge on revenge and/or the ascension of power.

“We mustn’t disappoint father…”:

For those that have been keeping up, the last season left us on a bitter, sour note as the tides seemed to turn in favor of the evil and corrupt, but that’s only half the tale as the seasons go. Both season 3 and 4 are an adaptation of the third book in George R.R. Martin’s series, “A Storm of Swords,” and this season, if going by the book, promises some vengeance for viewers who may feel that the good guys are constantly trampled by the bad in this series. That said, nothing is ever cut and dry with Martin’s books and the show has followed suit pretty damn well, but it’s fair to expect it to be epic, awesome, bloody, and fun at the very least.

Game of Thrones season 4 premieres on April 6, 2014.
