As a 90s kid, Nickelodeon was definitely a big part of that childhood. ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE, RUGRATS, REN & STIMPY, PETE & PETE, CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL (one of my earliest crushes) were all on constant rotation in my house. So I am certainly intrigued about the upcoming documentary THE ORANGE YEARS, which is about the formative years of the youth-oriented cable channel.
Here's the official synopsis:
The Orange Years journeys behind the scenes of the “kids first” phenomenal programming to chronicle the improbable and unprecedented success of Nickelodeon, straight from the mouths of those who brought the classic shows to us as children. Filled with interviews from the actors, writers, animators, and creators from all your favorite golden age Nick shows, the film offers a new perspective on Nickelodeon, and highlights the work of visionary Geraldine Laybourne, who was largely responsible for the network's success.
I mean, judging by the above trailer, it obviously looks a bit too much like a hagiography. However, it still looks interesting, so I'll definitely check it out once I get the chance (especially for the "crazy stories no one knows about" that Marc Summers promises at the end).
Meanwhile THE ORANGE YEARS should be coming out next year.
