New trailer for Rock of Ages is big and flamboyant

So, basically, ROCK OF AGES is what happens when a bunch of millionaires get together to make a giant karaoke movie.

And judging from this brand new trailer for the Adam Shankman-directed film, it quite literally looks like big, flashy karaoke strung together with a familiar little story and some gags that play on 80s hair metal culture. I’m on the fence about this one, though I’m terribly curious to see how Tom Cruise does in the role of ‘Stacee Jaxx’ (he looks great, but it’s gonna be all about how he does with his musical numbers).

ROCK OF AGES – starring Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, and Tom Cruise – opens June 15th.

Synopsis: “Rock of Ages” tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
