Quickly headed down the pike is the 3rd season of “True Blood,” and to make damn skippy we’re all aware of it, HBO continues to unravel their offbeat marketing scheme. Today, another minimalist poster for the hit series has been unveiled, one that exhorts us all to “Rehydrate.” Just a hunch, but I don’t think they’re referring to good ol’ H2O.
What I dig about the new one-sheet is the seeming double entendre. Not only does “rehydrate” refer to the characters in the show having to replenish their “gas tanks” by swilling as much blood as they can, the word also applies to fans and audiences, in essence getting their refill by watching the new season. Besides, rich globules of blood streaking down a slate of blackness is always a good way to start off your week!
Airing June 13, here’s a brief synopsis for each of the first three entries:
Episode #1. Pack of Wolves – Sookie turns to Eric for help in finding Bill; Andy urges Jason to stay the course; Sam reconnects with his past; Tara seeks refuge from her grief.
Episode #2. Beautifully Broken – Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, concocts a plan to consolidate his power; Eric remembers his past; Sam tests the strength of his family bonds; Tara finds an ally in shady vampire Franklin Mott.
Episode #3. It Hurts Me Too – Searching for Bill, Sookie heads to Jackson, Miss. in the company of Alcide, a werewolf bodyguard assigned by Eric to protect her. Jason is distracted from his police exams; Bud reaches the end of his rope; Arlene copes with unexpected news; Franklin charms Tara, and gets Jessica out of a jam; Eric bequeaths a gift to Lafayette. Haunted by visions from his past, Bill makes a surprising pledge of allegiance.
