New Vince Gilligan series details uncovered as the Better Call Saul follow-up heads to market

Vince Gilligan, the creator of hit television series like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is up to his old tricks. According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, a new Vince Gilligan series is on its way to the marketplace, and networks are itching to score a piece of the action. Smoke on the street hints at the series getting pitched to several networks and platforms within the next few weeks. The concept is based on an original idea and hails from Sony Pictures TV, where Gilligan has an overall deal.

The new Vince Gilligan series aims to be different than Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, so steel yourselves for some changes to Gilligan’s proven formula for entertainment. Deadline‘s report describes the project as a “blended, grounded genre drama.” Insiders close to the project liken it to Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone, which is very intriguing. The new Vince Gilligan series is said to take place in our world, but one that’s slightly different than the one we know. Expect plenty of human drama to unfold in surprising ways.

In addition to prepping a pitch, it’s been said that Gilligan has other materials to help sell the concept. Not that he’ll need them, but Gilligan is forever the showman. The story for the new series is expected to be a multi-season affair, with plenty of twists and turns to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Like Taylor Sheridan, Vince Gilligan is one of television’s most in-demand creators. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are both cultural touchstones, and it sounds like Gilligan’s next project will be just as ambitious.

What do you think about the concept for the new Vince Gilligan series? Are you excited about Gilligan stepping outside the confines of his Breaking Bad universe? Let us know in the comments below.
