Dual roles and a pay cut? How’s that for dedication…
Earlier this week we made it known that Sony has partnered with Hyde Park Entertainment to co-finance GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE…doing so for almost half of the originally slated budget (from $135 to $75 million). Lost in that tidbit was Nic Cage’s own pay-shave, which reduced his earnings from $12 to $7 million this time out.
However, that doesn’t seem to bother Nic too much, as it’s now being said he’ll play two different roles in the Neveldine/Taylor entry…as Johnny Blaze and some villainous badass named Zarathos.
Per a tweet from co-director Brian Taylor:
“The dual role of blaze/zarathos will be a Nic Cage classic”
Elaborating to Collider, Taylor said:
“Zarathos is the spirit of vengeance that inhabits John Blaze when he becomes Ghost Rider. Unlike the 1st movie, where the rider was stiffly acted out by various stunt guys, Nic Cage will be playing all the Ghost Rider stuff himself – and we are creating a whole physical language for the demon that is different from the human blaze.”
Sounds pretty f*ckin’ rad…especially if, with a cut budget, they do things practically and not artificially with computers.
But what do you think? Cage doubling up sound like a good idea to you? Imagine the copious amount of fake hair dude’ll end up sifting through. F*ckin’ epic!
