Nicolas Cage is one of the most eccentric dudes in Hollywood. This is a guy who purchased stolen T-rex skulls, lived in the most haunted house in America, took shrooms with his cat, and probably a hundred other things that haven’t made the press. But wait until you get a load of this one…
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Nicolas Cage took the host’s “questionert”, with Colbert asking him a series of questions designed to get to know the actor at his most human…and peculiar. When asked what his earliest memory was, well, it’s probably a bit different than yours. “I know this sounds really far out and I don’t know if it’s real or not, but sometimes I think I can go all the way back to in utero and feeling like I could see faces in the dark or something…I know that sounds powerfully abstract, but that somehow seems like maybe it happened.”
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Nicolas Cage said that after death, “I like to think whatever spark is animating our bodies, once the body passes on, that the spark continues to go.” See, now that makes sense!
While Nicolas Cages’ movies tend to be fun in one way or another (who’s to say Con Air is “better” than The Wicker Man?), his personal life is worthy of its own entertainment–again, this is the guy who lives with a crow that curses at him and who was stalked by a mime in the ‘90s. His reputation as an almost unpredictable blend of serious and absurd, professional and over-the-top, has developed into a cult following that has pushed him into a realm of nearly untouchable standing. Hey, not every major Hollywood star is asked to play an even more exaggerated version of themselves, as he did in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
