No Vamp in Spidey 4

So last month I wrote a piece about the next potential SPIDER-MAN villain – a topic not usually of interest around these parts, except in this case the potential villain was Morbius The Living Vampire, which could be very cool in Mr. Sam Raimi’s hands. It wasn’t much – not nearly a confirmation – but the level of Raimi’s cageyness seemed to indicate that maybe we’d be seeing a bloodsucker square off against the webslinger.

Well, now producer Todd Black is being a party-pooper and squashing that particular rumor. In an interview with the NY Post, Black says the villain will not be Morbius. The villain has not yet been determined, but Black cryptically says “Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York.”

I have no idea who that could be. Still seems like the Lizard a.k.a. Curt Connors (played by Dylan Baker in the previous SPIDER-MAN flicks) is a natural choice, but how “New York” is he? I personally think it should be a radioactive hobo, who has a knock-out stench of vomit and ass-crust, with the ability to piss acid. But I don’t get asked what I think by Sony, now do I?

SPIDER-MAN 4 has a May 6, 2011 release date set.
