Nope: Jordan Peele’s horror epic comes to VOD this Friday

Get Out and Us writer/director Jordan Peele’s new “horror epic” Nope (read our review HERE – our reviewer JimmyO gave the film a 9/10 score) has had a nice run at the box office since receiving a theatrical release last month, racking up over $100 million at the domestic box office. And now it’s ready for home viewing. The official Nope Twitter account has announced that the film is coming to VOD this Friday.

Nope centers on

residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Those residents are played by Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Keke Palmer (Alice), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead). Also in the cast are Keith David (The Thing), Michael Wincott (The Crow), Brandon Perea (The OA), and Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria).

The VOD release date is the news I have been waiting for. I haven’t seen Nope yet, but I will definitely be watching it from the comfort of my own home this weekend. Unfortunately, I had to miss out on the theatre experience that Peele wanted to provide with this one. Speaking with Fandago, he said,

I wrote it in a time when we were a little bit worried about the future of cinema. I wanted to create a spectacle, something that the audience would have to come see, and so I set my sights on the great American UFO story here. It’s a horror epic but it has some points in it that are meant to elicit a very audible reaction in the theater. So hopefully when we go see it, we’re going to hear a lot of ‘NOPE,’ walking out, walking back in. That’s what I’m looking for.”
