Ocean’s 14: George Clooney says a “great script” exists that could reunite the star-studded crew

Ocean’s trilogy star George Clooney says a “great script” for another film in the series exists, but he’s reluctant to call it Ocean’s 14.

Ocean's 14, George Clooney

George Clooney says the Ocean’s gang could get back together after reading a “great script” for another film in the starry heist series. Speaking with Uproxx about his upcoming movie The Boys in the Boat, Clooney revealed a new Ocean’s film could find the crew from the trilogy reuniting for events set after Ocean’s 13. Ocean’s 14, anyone?

“We have a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,” Clooney told Uproxx.

The outlet tried pressing Clooney for more information, though he was reluctant to share too much. When asked if the project intends to become Ocean’s 14, Clooney said, “Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.'”

Going in Style refers to Zach Braff’s 2017 crime comedy about three lifelong pals risking it all by daring to knock off the bank that absconded with their money. Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Morgan Freeman, Ann-Margaret, Christopher Lloyd, and Matt Dillon star as primary cast members, with Joey King, John Ortiz, and Maria Dizzia. And, of course, that was a remake of a 1979 film that sported an even older cast headed by George Burns! Certainly Clooney isn’t comparing himself to George Burns?

Good grief, George Clooney! Way to make us feel old by comparing the Ocean’s crew to the characters in Braff’s Going in Style. At least there’s an Ocean’s prequel on the way, with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling possibly playing Danny Ocean’s parents. Plot details for the prequel remain a mystery, though we know it takes place in 1960s Europe.

Meanwhile, The Boys in the Boat is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the globe. Clooney directs from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. Joel Edgerton (Boy ErasedThe Great Gatsby), Callum Turner (Green Room, Queen & Country), and Courtney Henggler (Cobra KaiNobody’s Fool) lead the cast, with Hadley Robinson, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jack Mulhern, James Wolk, Alec Newman, Peter Guinness, Sam Strike, and Thomas Elms. Grant Heslov and George Clooney produce, with Kevin Ultich, Barbara A. Hall, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre executive producing.

Are you excited about the Ocean’s film series coming back? Is Ocean’s 14 in the works, or will the studio wait to see how the Robbie and Gosling-led prequel performs at the box office before deciding? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
