Omen poster taboo

As Arrow told you guys, the remake of THE OMEN, despite John Moore’s best intentions, looks to stink worse than a zombie on Ex-Lax. And as I told you, Damien growling at churches is funny (in a bad way at that), not scary.

Anyways, undertaker-in-training Matt ran a story back in May about how the Chilean poster for the film (titled LA PROFECIA over there) sparked some controversy with it’s image of a crucified Jesus hung upside down, which had some theatres pulling the poster after complaints from people. Good thing the IMP Awards got ahold of this story, since they managed to get the poster for themselves and display it for all to see over at their site.

Controversy aside, I understand those who complained and their opinions on the matter, but it is after all a movie about the Antichrist, displaying an example of the evil in the story. True, it’s making a mockery of Christianity, but for those of you who remember THE EXORCIST, with it’s crucifix masturbation scene and desecration of a church, I would think those are bigger controvery generators than this. And even with that stuff, good triumphs over evil at the end of the film. For those who want to see the evidence themselves regarding the poster, head on over here for the whole image.
