Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Monday was a hard day for fans of comic books, comic book characters and anyone who appreciated the genius of Stan Lee. The legend passed away this week and everyone took to social media to pay their respects, including anyone who has appeared in a Marvel movie or project, well, ever. While the MCU has blown up over the last decade it really all came together with THE AVENGERS in 2012, and now all of the original members of the team have come together to pay a simple-yet-effective tribute to Lee in The Hollywood Reporter.

Taking out a full-page ad in THR’s print edition, actors Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo all signed their names to a loving tribute to Lee.

“We acknowledge his creative contribution, the thousands of men and women it has long employed, the millions that will continue to be entertained, and above all, his inimitable wit, grace, and humility. Stan, we love you, we will miss you, we’re grateful to represent a small part of your amazing legacy.”

Not only did the flagship Avengers pay a lovely tribute, but so did 20th Century Fox and DC, with the studios also sending messages of love and appreciation to the comic book titan in the THR issue.

Stan Lee’s influence spread across all mediums, influencing careers and changing lives, with Downey Jr. saying “I owe it all to you” in his Instagram tribute. Lee’s passing may have hit everyone a little hard, but it’s been pretty amazing to see all these loving words put out there from everyone, including DC. Oh great, now I'm getting all choked up again. Don't mind the teardrops on the page.

The Avengers will return in AVENGERS 4 on May 3, 2019.
