Oscar Isaac wants Pedro Pascal to join the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man 2099 Oscar Isaac wants his good friend Pedro Pascal to enter the Spider-Verse as a “cranky, old Spider-Person.”

Long gone are the days where Oscar Isaac would earn a credit as Interesting Person #1. Now in his second outing as Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 – a character who first appeared in Marvel’s 2099 imprint – Isaac is ready to share the wealth. And considering the insane amount of Spider-People there are in the Spider-Verse, surely he can put in a good word for his pal Pedro Pascal.

Speaking with GQ, Oscar Isaac said he would like to have Pedro Pascal join the Spider-Verse, even sure he can help choose his character. “They’re so brilliant at finding the right person for the right character, but maybe Pedro Pascal [should join the cast]. Let’s find something for him. He should be a Spider-Person, like a cranky, old Spider-Person.” Although Pascal doesn’t have too many voice acting credits on his resume, he would surely give it his all. Come on, the guy nailed playing Mario on Saturday Night Live this past season.

On his own Spider-Man character, Oscar Isaac said, “He’s got this particular unique quality to him, but there are lots of things about him that I think are very surprising and make him such his own thing. The fangs and claws and this violence that’s simmering underneath at all times? He’s just a really interesting character.”

The duo’s working relationship goes back to an off-Broadway play in 2005, but they have only appeared in one movie together so far, J.C. Chandor’s strong action-adventurer flick Triple Frontier. Suiting up – or, rather, stepping into the soundbooth – for a Spider-Verse session would be a nice reunion for Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal. Sony is certainly a fan of Pascal, tweeting a happy birthday message in April that read, “Our imagined Spider Society wouldn’t be complete without you.” Hmm…

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse opened with $120.5 million domestically and another $88 million internationally, pushing it past the $200 million mark worldwide. Imagine how high those numbers would jump if Pedro Pascal slung his way into the Spider-Verse!
