Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order. As much as we all would like Oscar Isaac to reign supreme, Prof. X and his team of mutants have other plans. For the collectors out there, Empire has a total of 9 covers painting a pretty epic portrait. Take a look!

Looking at the new trailer for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (you can see it below), I'd say that director Bryan Singer has lost his grasp on the tightrope that is comic book and real world design. Seriously, this thing looks cheesier than THE LAST STAND. With that said, I don't think the look of it rules out how much fun it will be. Sure, fans may be focusing on BATMAN V SUPERMAN or CIVIL WAR, but APOCALYPSE might sneak in there with some decent comic book cinema. We'll know how they all hold up in just a couple of months' time!

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens on May 27, 2016.
