Ouija: Origin of Evil posters warn against talking to the other side

While the first poster released for Mike Flanagan's OUIJA prequel OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL worked perfectly well for me, the marketing department at Universal has seen fit to release three more posters for the film, two of which feature warnings against using the spirit board to talk to the other side and another which implies the prequel will be showing us some horrific sights.

Despite not being impressed by the first OUIJA, I am looking forward to ORIGIN OF EVIL with some anticipation, largely because it's a Flanagan film, but also because the powers that be are clearly aware that they made some missteps with the previous film.

Talking to iHorror, producer Jason Blum said that "…by making this film, we’re sort of acknowledging our mistakes with the first film.  We’re trying to make a better film. … I promise fans, those who didn’t like the first film, that they will enjoy this film much more. It’s more dramatic and much scarier."

We're usually deeper into a franchise by the time filmmakers start trying to make up for bad entries, but maybe Flanagan can turn the OUIJA series around with its second film.

Written by Flanagan and his OCULUS co-writer Jeff Howard, OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL tells the following story:

In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.

Starring Parker Mack, Kate Siegel, Sam Anderson, Henry Thomas, Lulu Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, Annalise Basso, and Doug Jones, OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL is set to reach theatres on October 21, 2016.
