Our Flag Means Death Interviews: Matthew Maher, Nathan Foad, and Samba Schutte

The new HBO series Our Flag Means Death is a pirate adventure based on the true story of Stede Bonnet, known as The Gentleman Pirate, and we have some interviews to mark the occasion. With Taika Waititi on board as co-star and director on some episodes, this hilarious series manages to take the workplace sitcom and blend it with the high seas and swashbuckling action. The first season of the show focuses on Rhys Darby as Stede as he and his crew try to build recognition as the best pirates of the day.

I recently had the chance to sit down with the cast of Our Flag Means Death to discuss the series and their roles on the show. The first pirates I got the chance to talk to were Matthew Maher who plays Black Pete, Nathan Foad who portrays Lucius, and Samba Schutte who plays Roach. All three were very excited about the ensemble they got to work with. We talked about who the hardest person was to act opposite and whether any of them would have made good pirates back in the 18th century. Check out my interview with them in the embed above.

What do you think of these Our Flag Means Death interviews, and will you watch the series when it premieres on March 3rd on HBO Max.
