Outer Banks: The Netflix adventure series is renewed for a season 4 just before the third season premiere

The popular Netflix adventure show Outer Banks is just about to premiere its third season in three more days. In a stunning turn of events, the streaming service has already renewed the teen series for a fourth season just before season three is even made available, according to Variety. The cast of the show, Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Davis, Carlacia Grant, Rudy Pankow, Austin North and Drew Starkey, were in attendance at a fan event, Poguelandia, which took place at Huntington Beach, CA, when they surprised fans with the announcement.

Series creators Shannon Burke and the Pates — Josh and Jonas, had released a joint statement stating their excitement about the news. “Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular. The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime, and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into Season 4 of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast, and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen.”

Madelyn Cline, the star of the show who can also be seen in Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, spoke about the evolution of her character, Sarah Cameron. Cline explains, “We’ve seen her truly grow up a lot. She’s gone from a teenager who doesn’t have much of a care in the world or responsibilities to having the weight of so many things on her shoulders. This season, we continue to piggyback on that with a few wrenches thrown into the mix. She found this voice and she’s learning how to make decisions for herself.”

Outer Banks first premiered back in April 2020 and had quickly garnered a large, loyal following. The second season, then, debuted in July 2021.The series follows a tight-knit group of local teens (who call themselves Pogues) struggling to come to terms with the death of their friends after a treasure hunt goes wrong. Some of the characters are also on the run in the Bahamas and back on the trail of gold while the stakes for the rest of the group escalate at home. $400 million is on the line as a newfound secret reunites the group for a new mission in uncharted waters.

Poguelandia, the fan event, also included a surf shop sponsored by American Eagle as well as musical performances by Khalid, Lil Baby, Elley Duhé, Surf Mesa and The Nude Party.
