Over 40 new images from The Raven

Relativity Media has released over 40 new images for the upcoming Edgar Allan Poe action thriller THE RAVEN.

In THE RAVEN, Edgar Allen Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue, the film also stars Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

What we can gleam from these stills is that this is going to be a very dark movie, literally. It does not appear that much of the film is set during the daytime and if it is, those hours are spent with the shades drawn.

I liked V FOR VENDETTA so I am giving James McTeigue a chance with this one. There is something about taking real historical people and putting them in fantastical situations that just makes me want to watch them. I feel the same excitement for ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.

THE RAVEN opens April 27th, 2012.
