Once upon a time, not very long ago, Gwyneth Paltrow was (rightfully) the “hot chick” in a movie. She wasn’t playing fiddle to anyone and had a pretty impressive run. But with IRON MAN 2 Paltrow will have to share time with Scarlett Johansson. And now she’s signed on to star in LOVE DON’T LET ME DOWN where’s playing a washed-up old country singer opposite Leighton Meester who’ll play a beauty queen. Call me crazy (or a cougar lover) but I’ll take a washed-up Gwyneth any day of the week.
In the film, Paltrow’s country singer falls in love with an upcoming star (Garrett Hedlund). Trouble is her husband (Tim McGraw) is also their mutual manager. (Kinda strange to see a movie set in the country music world and Tim McGraw is playing a manager…) Somehow Meester’s model-turned-singer is involved in all of this as well. Shana Feste (THE GREATEST) wrote and will direct the film with Tobey Maguire producing for Sony-based Screen Gems. Filming on LOVE is expected to begin this January in Nashville.
