Panda 2 in Nov.?

JoBloJoBlo

We already knew that KUNG FU PANDA 2 was in the works, but we had no idea it’d be ready for November! OK so it’s not exactly a theatrical sequel but DreamWorks has managed to cobble together a direct-to-DVD mini-film titled “Secrets of the Furious Five” that they will make available in a double pack when KUNG FU PANDA hits DVD shelves on November 9. The “Pandamonium Double Pack” will sell for $25 as opposed to the $20 the stand-alone disc would go for. Both Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman returned to voice their characters in the film and “delves into the backstories” of the PANDA characters. It’s unclear at this point how long the mini-movie is but for an extra $5, I would hope it’s at least 30 minutes. This move would mark the first time a direct-to-DVD sequel has come out on the same day as the original (GET SMART released a similar feature – “Bruce and Lloyd” – while the movie was still in theaters). Also peculiar about this news is that DreamWorks is opting to release the DVDs on a Sunday, instead of the traditional Tuesday. Of course DreamWorks is still working on a theatrical sequel for KUNG FU PANDA, which is likely much further away than this November.
