WASSUUUP?

I was just sitting around my office, you know? Chillin, killin'. When out of nowhere Variety dropped an exclusive report that Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures are pooling their efforts to co-produce the fifth installment of the Scream film franchise. Set to be helmed by READY OR NOT filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the "relaunch" project so far has David Arquette set to reprise his role as Deputy Dewey Riley.

In order to get the job done, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-writing the project. Meanwhile, Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak will act as producers, while creator Kevin Williamson and Radio Silence's Chad Villella are set to executive produce.

Paramount will be distributing the newest chapter of the Scream franchise worldwide when it comes time for the Ghostface killer to make their triumphant return. For the moment, principal photography for the film is expected to begin in late summer in Willington, North Carolina, though the plan is subject to change as coronavirus restrictions are still in the midst of being lifted. While Arquette is the only original cast member set to make a return to the franchise so far, more exciting announcements are in the works in the coming weeks. No details about the plot of the new film have been revealed, though logic dictates that Ghostface will resurface to get stab-happy once again.

Are you ready for the Scream franchise to make a comeback? Which surviving characters from the previous films do you hope will come back for another round of murder and mayhem? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
