Paramount crafting Forgotten for True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld

One of the great success stories of the year is that of 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld, who was plucked from obscurity to star in TRUE GRIT, outshining A-listers Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon in the process.

She’s currently nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Oscars, the reason being she has a much better shot of winning that category than the more heated Best Actress field, despite the fact she was clearly the lead in TRUE GRIT.

Well Paramount realizes what they’ve discovered, and now they’re crafting a new film based specifically around Steinfeld. It’s called Forgotten, it’s based off an upcoming novel by Cat Patrick, and it’s got a bit of a tricky synopsis.

Steinfeld will play London Lane, a 16-year old whose memory is erased at 4:33 every night. The following morning, all she can remember are events from her future. After meeting a new boy at school, London becomes frustrated that she can’t seem to find him in her memory of things to come.

So it’s like MEMENTO, but with the ability to see the future? Yeah, because memory erasure isn’t a complicated enough plot device already. Just don’t show things in reverse over, and hopefully we’ll be OK.
