Originally, the Guillermo del Toro produced, Troy Nixey directed horror remake DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, had been given a January 28th, 2011 release date. As we all know, the shite ain’t releasing tomorrow, or really anytime soon.

However, word now comes from Screen Daily that Pathe International has made a deal with Miramax to distribute DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK around the globe. They’ll commence foreign sales of the picture at the European Film Market (EFM) next month.

Written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins, the film follows a young girl who is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend and discovers a hoard of creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

Katie Holmes (above and below), Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, Alan Dale, Julia Blake, Jack Thompson, Dylan Young, Nicholas Bell, Edwina Ritchard and Gary McDonald are all featured in the film.

Hopefully with this news, we’ll get a release date for your neck of the woods soon.
