…And another 80s horror flick gets remade!

Of all the Stephen King adaptations, you could argue one of the very few that shouldn’t be redone is Mary Lambert’s PET SEMATARY. Well, Word from the L.A. Times is that 1408 scribe Matthew Greenberg will soon turn in a draft of just that…a remake of the 1989 chiller.

No director has been attached or sought after yet, but unnamed Paramount execs claim offers want to be sent out to high profile A-listers to helm a PET SEMATARY redo. Makes sense, King’s most recent adaptation, THE DARK TOWER, has Ron Howard directing. Think Paramount will land someone of that caliber for PET SEMATARY?

Of course, the 1989 title starring Fred Gwynne, Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby, Miko Hughes and Blaze & Beau Berdhal – went like this:

The Creed family has moved to a nice little community, but shortly after the move, their son is killed. Grief-stricken, the father fins out that there is a cemetery where you can bury your loved ones, and they can come back to life. He takes his son to this place, and he is brought back. It seems all is well again, until the son kills a person. That is where the father learns , “Not everything that comes back is the same.” Now, he has to find a way to stop his son before he kills the whole town.

Okay, so what’s up? You think PET SEMATERY needs remaking? Do you want to see it happen? If it has to, who should Paramount try to get to direct?
