Pierce Brosnan hunts Milla Jovovich in the trailer for spy thriller Survivor

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For whatever reason, I cannot quit Pierce Brosnan. Since his last Bond film, Brosnan has not exactly been making great movies. Sure, there are flicks like THE MATADOR mixed in there, but most of the movies are direct to Redbox thrillers and MAMMA MIA. But, I cannot let go of how cool Pierce Brosnan was as Bond and hope he turns in another great role.

SURVIVOR may not be high drama, but the James McTeigue directed thriller looks at least enjoyable. Brosnan is playing a bit against type as an assassin rather than a heroic spy who has the tables turned on him by his target, played by the eternally sexy Milla Jovovich.

A Foreign Service Officer in London tries to prevent a terrorist attack set in New York, but is forced to go on the run after she is framed for crimes she didn’t commit.

McTeigue’s films like V FOR VENDETTA and NINJA ASSASSIN don’t provide me with much hope for this to be a great movie, but with a supporting cast that includes Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, and Dylan McDermott, this looks better than it has any right to. Part TAKEN and part SALT, SURVIVOR looks like the anti-Bond for Brosnan. But, we said the same thing about THE NOVEMBER MAN and look how that turned out.

SURVIVOR is slated for release on May 29, 2015 both theatrically and On Demand.
