Pierce Brosnan is out promoting his upcoming Western SERAPHIM FALLS and told Entertainment Weekly that he’s headed back to one of his more familiar characters. Sorry Daniel Craig haters – he’s not returning for Bond but instead for THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2. The long-rumored project looks like it’ll finally be a go according to Pierce. “THOMAS CROWN 2, for all intents and purposes, will happen. The script came in two days ago and it’s good. We’ve announced it, we’ve said to the world that we’re going to do it — come hell or high water, we’re going to do it. The bar is high on this one, the expectation is high on it.” Sounds pretty emphatic that they’re really gonna do it and it’s not just a bunch of bunk. The film would be called THE TOPKAPI AFFAIR and would actually be a loose remake of the 1964 MGM film TOPKAPI about the heist of a jeweled dagger from an Istanbul museum. Harley Peyton (BANDITS) wrote a draft of the script but it’s unclear if that has been rewritten.
