Not sure how many of you Arrow in the Headers have heard of the New Zealand TV series called “The Tribe,” but it looks like the sucker’s going Hollywood!

Variety reports the series – a post-apocalyptic yarn that has expanded to 18 novel entries and 2 albums – is being produced and written by Raymond Thompson, who actually created the original Kiwi series. Word is he’ll change the film from “The Tribe” to TRIBES for American audiences.

No doubt playing to that tween and young adult demographic, TRIBES goes like this:

Where the virus came from, no-one knew… from deepest space, bacterial warfare or some nation’s scientific experiments gone horrifically wrong? All the Adults are gone… All the teachers are gone… All peace and regular meals are gone… Just tribal instincts and war paint survive. If survival depends on not getting caught by the evil Locusts or rival cyber gang Demon Dogs or just finding your next meal… then the only option is to start your own Tribe.

Evil Locusts and Demon Dogs? Whoa daddy!

No studio or director has been attached so far, but when they do, we’ll give you the skinny on TRIBES ASAP.
