Predators scribes hired to pen live action Masters of the Universe film!

From Predators to He-Man!

The last time we had a MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE update, it was regarding Warner Brothers’ decision to drop the live action film adaptation. In the intermittent months, not only has the project been nabbed by Columbia, word has it today out of Heat Vision that PREDATORS scribes Michael Finch and Alex Litvak have been hired to ink the adaptation.

The hire is believed to be a part of a ground-up rebuilding of the property, which under negotiation with WB, had several writers attached as well as KUNG FU PANDA co-director John Stevenson. Word is Mattel has final story approval, so finding a script that suits both parties (Columbia and Mattel) has been a bit iffy. Furthermore, it appears Stevenson has gotten the boot!

For those unfamiliar with popular 80s TV series, “Masters of the Universe” picks up:

In a distant and mystical land, where wimpy Prince Adam leads the life of royalty. Unknown to all but a few close friends/allies, Prince Adam is actually a hero, the mighty He-Man. Together with his friends, (such as Teela; her father, a man-at-arms; mysterious Orko and his mighty friend/horse substitute Battle Cat), He-Man battles the evil Skeletor and his minions for control of the world, and, more importantly, for the control, power and “honor of Greyskull,” the mysterious castle from which He-Man derives his powers.

All I know is this…If PREDATORS ends up being as ultra-badass as everyone around here believes it will be, I cannot f*ckin’ wait to see how Finch and Litvak depict Skeletor and his evil minions. Should kick muco derriere!

But what says you all? You think this is a wise move from Columbia, seeing how Finch and Litvak have only one writing credit to their names (for a flick yet to be released, no less)? Or are you confident enough in the Blessing of Robert Rodriguez mixed with the footage seen from PREDATORS to know He-Man’s in good hands?
