For a few weeks, we’ve been shooting you details for the impending U.K. Blu-Ray release of George Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD (which is “Region Free”, by the way). Today we bring you a look at one of the many special treats that will be included in this release: some pages from DESERTION, the comic book that shows us the origins of everyone’s favorite zombie, Bub.

As you can see below, we’re going back to when Bub was actually a man. The storyline recounts his disturbing transition from grief-stricken family man to, well, the smartest zombie you’ll ever meet… Click on the panels to enlarge them.

The story is penned by Stefan Hutchinson (‘Halloween Comics’) and Barry Keating (‘Hack Slash Meets Re-Animator’) with artwork from Jeff Zornow (‘Fright Rags’). As for the Blu-Ray, the two-disc 25th Anniversary Edition of DAY OF THE DEAD, featuring all-new special features, will be released by Arrow View on MARCH 29th 2010.
