Remember Shane Carruth’s 2004 mind-bender PRIMER? That shite was crazy, right?

Well, it looks like Carruth’s bringing his brand of crazy to the set of LOOPER – Rian Johnson’s time-travel thriller starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt. But if you think he’s about to go toe-to-toe with those acting heavyweights, guess again!

You see, Carruth (seen right) has been hired not to act, but to bring his F/X acumen to the production of LOOPER. Don’t buy it? Peep the Tweet Johnson laid down:

“Shane Carruth is working on Looper. If you haven’t seen his film Primer, run don’t walk…He’s doing FX work.”

I have to agree with that statement. If you haven’t seen PRIMER, catapult that shite to the top of your Netflix queue pronto. For as little resources as that production had, the film is quite a feat!

Also starring Emily Blunt (below) and possibly Paul Dano, LOOPER is a science fiction thriller is set during a future in which time travel has been invented, with operatives (loopers) sent back to the present to assassinate criminals. Gordon-Levitt will play a man sent back to kill himself.

LOOPER comes out sometime in 2012.
