Back in May we brought you news of a flick being prepped called SCARS (aka CICATRICES); Spanish company Rodar Y Rodar (THE ORPHANAGE, JULIA’S EYES) was behind the venture, although we had not heard much from it since…

That changes today as the project has gotten some big-time help. Sony will finance and co-produce SCARS, according to Screen Daily. I think they can afford this little Spanish indie, don’t you?

To be directed by Sergi Vizcaino, SCARS is about a group of university students, led by a girl named Angela, who go to an abandoned village to study reported supernatural occurrences. Soon, they encounter an evil spirit that harasses them incessantly, but can only be seen by Angela’s sister, Diane.

Filming on SCARS begins in March.
