Global recession got you down? Any of you Kiwis strapped for cash and in need of a quick 5 Gs? Good thing is you don’t have flash or sell those private parts again, simply take part in a cool promo gimmick where you, yes YOU, can attain the entire marketing budget for the Spanish infection film REC 2, which we now know hits New Zealand theaters on November 13th.

So how doy you cop the cash? Design a cool marketing ploy or a creative ad campaign for the Paco Plaza/Jaume Balaguero (infected) zombie film, submit to the requisite site, and see how your work fares.

All kinds of creative avenues have been traveled here, from outlandish Youtube clips, ingenious Facebook and Wikipedia pages, a one of a kind Brothel offering from the film, etc.

The weird-ass competition, which runs for more than a week and can be found HERE, is the brainchild of Vandetta Films and local film promoter Ant Timpson, the latter musing

“I’ve been really impressed with the creativity on display with entries ranging from an angry christian demanding the banning of the film, to a viral mashup that fused Balloon Boy news audio and [REC] footage, to virus alert guerilla tactics, to an indie film hijacking their own promotion, to a bloody street campaign , to a short film within the [REC] Universe, to a zombie insurance policy on TradeMe, to Wikipedia entries, Facebook pages and many more including one disturbed submission from a Brothel owner offering [REC]2 Specials.”
