Put your hands together and make some noise for the Patti Cake$ trailer

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

One of the most important lessons you can learn in this life is to never let people tell you that you can't live your dreams. If you want to make something more of yourself, and aren't afraid to put in a fair amount of hard work and dedication to make it happen, I think you should go for it. The world is filled with unlikely success stories, and there's no reason to ever think that you can't be one one of them.

Why do I sound like an inspirational quote book that you found in a basket next to the toilet in your friend's bathroom? Well, it's because we've got ourselves a trailer for an underdog movie here, folks. Today, Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming film PATTI CAKE$, a coming-of-age story straight out of Jersey.

You can check out the trailer for the film below:

The film tells the tale of aspiring rapper Patricia Dombrowski, an unlikely talent who finds her voice as a one-of-a-kind hip-hop legend in the making. It's set to be the first feature-length-film from acclaimed commercial and music video director Geremy Jasper. Set in a gritty strip-mall suburb, PATTI CAKE$ chronicles an underdog's quest for fame and glory with humor, raw energy, and some unforgettable beats.

Interesting, so it looks like what we've got here is a hybrid of PRECIOUS mixed with 8 MILE. To be honest with you, I think I'm down to check this out. I love me a good underdog story, and I'm digging the musical beats and flow of this trailer. While I'm not certain if PATTI CAKE$ is the next Eminem, I'm more than willing to give her rhymes a listen when the film raps its way into theaters.

PATTI CAKE$ stars Danielle Macdonald, Bridget Everett, Siddharth Dhananjay, Mamoudou Athie, Sahr Hgaujah, McCaul Lombardi, Wass Stevens, Nick Sandow, Anthony Ramos, Ray Inannicelli, Daniel Stewart Sherman, MC Lyte and Cathy Moriarty. PATTI CAKE$ will be making its theatrical debut on August 18, 2017.
