Quantum Leap reboot adds Ernie Hudson to the cast of the NBC sci-fi pilot

Famed Ghostbuster and The Family Business actor Ernie Hudson is joining the cast of NBC‘s Quantum Leap reboot pilot. Hudson will star opposite Raymond Lee for the hour-long pilot, based on the 1990s sci-fi drama. Lee will star in the Quantum Leap reboot as Dr. Ben Seong, a “spiritual successor” to Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula).

Hudson will play Herbert “Magic” Williams, a Vietnam veteran and head of the time travel project at Quantum Leap. Using a bit of politicking and his military know-how to keep the Pentagon at bay, Magic buys the team some time to rescue Ben but expects answers once he’s back.

The Quantum Leap reboot will be set in the present day, nearly thirty years since Dr. Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. A new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. Raymond Lee’s Dr. Seong is both a world-renowned physicist and man of faith but finds himself stuck in the late 1980s with amnesia after using the Quantum leap technology on himself.

The reboot will be written and executive produced by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, co-showrunners of La BreaBlindspot creator Martin Gero is also onboard as an executive producer as are original series creator Don Bellisario and executive producer Deborah Pratt.

Are you excited about the Quantum Leap reboot? Hudson is a hell of a get, and when paired with Raymond Lee, that’s one dynamic duo that I would follow into any wormhole.
