You ever read Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness”? Can you imagine the story being set in a future far, far away?
Well, that’s exactly how the story is being reconceived by Radar Pictures. Variety reports the studio has assigned Peter Cornwell (THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT) to adapt the novel to the big-screen, doing so with the aforementioned sci-fi spin. The film will be called INTO DARKNESS.
Written by Tony Giglio and Branden R. Morgan, INTO DARKNESS will loosely follow Conrad’s 1902 tome about a harried ferryboat captain tagged with arduous mission of finding and leading the crazy ivory trader Kurtz back to civilization. Or rather, it’s Marty Sheen out to find Brando in that godforsaken cave!
Giglio wrote DEATH RACE 2 and his writing DEATH RACE 3. He also wrote IN ENEMY HANDS, CHAOS, TIMBER FALLS and ARENA. Morgan, a converted-actor, last starred in the Ed Harris movie ONCE FALLEN. This is his first writing credit.
Alright, so what do we think? Is a space-set HEART OF DARKNESS something we want to see? From the guy who gave us THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT?
I just don’t know…
