Radar Pictures to produce adaptation of iPhone game The Drowning

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

The best-selling iPhone game THE DROWNING is being envisioned for the big screen by Radar Pictures, and Deadline is reporting that OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN and EXPENDABLES 3 writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt have been tapped to adapt the game with Radar Pictures’ Ted Field, Mike Weber, and Michael Napoliello producing the feature adaptation.

The iOS mobile first-person shooter was published last year by Tokyo-based publisher DeNA. The best-selling game is being envisioned for the big screen as…

…an ecological horror tale about a deep-sea oil-drilling accident that causes ancient micro-organisms to be released into the water supply of an island town off the Seattle coast.

Radar’s recent horror-thrillers include THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, THE AMITYVILE HORROR, and the upcoming UNDER THE BED.
