Radius to give It Follows a wide release, will not arrive on VOD this month

Yesterday we brought you the news that David Robert Mitchell's IT FOLLOWS would be hitting VOD as previously reported, even after the film scored some decent box office in a very limited release. It had seemed that distributor RADiUS was looking at expanding the films release to more theaters, but had decided to stick with the VOD release on March 27 after all. Now we've got word from our brothers in blood over at Bloody Disgusting that RADiUS will not be releasing IT FOLLOWS on VOD or cable platforms anytime soon, but that a wide theatrical run is most definitely happening and happening soon!

We've known that the film would be expanding this coming weekend, but once again to limited theaters (you can find a list of theaters showing it HERE). Now it looks as if IT FOLLOWS will be getting an even wider release sooner than you think. Could this mean the original March 27 VOD date will be the date for a wider theatrical release? Let's hope so.

Here's the synopsis for IT FOLLOWS:

“For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends at the lake. Yet after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.”

Yesterday I was lamenting the fact that IT FOLLOWS wasn't playing in my neck of the woods and that I'd probably have to wait for the VOD release. Now it seems that I may indeed get a chance to catch it in theaters and that is exciting news. We'll keep you posted on news regarding the wide release of IT FOLLOWS as we hear it!
