Rambo: Last Stand script completed but will Stallone return?

JoBloJoBlo

Last May, Sylvester Stallone told Empire Magazine, “I think Rambo’s pretty well done,” adding that he was “99% sure” there wouldn’t be another film. But now, CONAN THE BARBARIAN writer Sean Hood told the very same Empire Magazine, he just completed RAMBO: LAST STAND, a script he was hired to write by Millennium Films and Stallone, who even provided Hood with pages of material to use as inspiration for the screenplay. So what gives?

As Hood explains, “As of now, I don’t know whether Mr Stallone will actually do it. Right now, as I understand it, he has his hands full with BULLET TO THE HEAD and EXPENDABLES 2. But Millennium Films did hire me to complete the screenplay and realize his story, and my hope is that he’ll eventually be inspired to do one more Rambo film.”

So it does seem that Stallone isn’t very focused on another RAMBO film but at least now it’s more of a possibility that it was when Stallone was last speaking of the sequel.

As for the plot, Hood says it has nothing to do with any of the previously rumored storylines and instead harks back to FIRST BLOOD. “It’s more in line with a small-town thriller…with the tone of Clint Eastwood’s UNFORGIVEN.” While that does sound all well and good, my favorite idea was when Stallone pitched Rambo jumping genres to sci-fi or horror or something (see my old article, “Who will Rambo fight?” for my ideas on where it could’ve gone).

Are you interested in a new RAMBO film or are you happy with the way the character was sent off in the last film?
