Rated R for Funny

JoBloJoBlo

A new R-rated trailer for FUNNY GAMES has hit the net, but I’m more into calling it a clip. Watch it and you’ll see what I mean. FUNNY GAMES is a film by Austrian Michael Haneke, a master of the psychological thriller (really psychological). In a rare move, Haneke is remaking his own film from 1997 for American audiences, with stars Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, and Michael Pitt speaking a language that won’t require you to read anything. Watts and Roth star as a couple who are terrorized at their vacation home by a couple of twisted boys. It’s hard stuff to watch. While watching this clip, you might wonder what’s so R-rated about it, but just wait. When Naomi Watts gets decapitated at the end of it and Michael Pitt makes love to himself in her blood, you’ll know why. Just watch it. FUNNY GAMES won’t be funny at all (unless you’re sick) on February 15.
