I wish that this article an the headline were here simply to alert you that director Brett Ratner would be making an appearance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” but sadly it’s much worse news. Ain’t It Cool is confirming the reports from last month that Brett Ratner will be directing CONAN. AICN is saying that it’s official that Ratner will direct CONAN for Lionsgate. That should be enough to have fanboys reaching for their longsword to gouge out their own eyes. What this would seem to mean is that we won’t get a terrible CONAN film, we just won’t get a good one either. We’ll just get a CONAN movie that you’ll see, shrug your shoulders at and wonder on your way out the door what it could have been like with a real visionary directing. AICN also cautions that this film is NOT remaking the John Milius film but will be more of a reboot, starting fresh with the franchise. How this fits into Ratner’s plans to direct BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 (which is progressing quickly at Paramount) or the superhero flick HARBINGER. Stay tuned as this news develops…
