As you’re well aware, today is Friday the 13th, the first of three such dates this year! (We get another next month!) It’s a damn national holiday in the horror world. You’re likely preparing to enjoy a good old Jason Voorhees marathon later, an activity I personally never miss out on whenever a Friday the 13th strikes. Or, perhaps you’re searching for some F13-related goodies you previously haven’t seen. If that’s the case, here’s a chewy little morsel for you.

Screenwriter Todd Farmer posted the outline for his futuristic slasher JASON X on his personal blog, inviting Jason fans everywhere to see the sequel’s early beginnings. Very nice of him! Here’s a bit of text from his intro:

We tossed out ideas for Jason takes Los Angeles. Jason takes the Middle-East. And I eventually pitched Jason Bladerunner, where Jason was found cryogenically frozen 500 years in the future. Though everyone involved loved the 500 years later part, the idea of creating “Future World” caused budget fears so I pitched the space truckers from Alien finding Jason rather than an Alien. Other horror icons “in space” were mentioned but I kept saying, “Right but Alien/Aliens”. The space truckers quickly became a class trip into space to make the cast younger. And I went home and started writing.
