Normally I wouldn’t waste your time on a behind the scenes featurette on a movie that has been out of theaters for about 10 months and on DVD for about four months but I’ll make an exception for CORALINE. In a perfect world, UP would have a legitimate chance at the Best Picture Oscar leaving CORALINE a much better shot at the Best Animated Film. Sadly it doesn’t look like it’ll shake out that way but CORALINE really deserves all the accolades it gets.
And why? Just watch this video. Watch the giant draw of facial expressions they have just for Coraline alone. Watch that guy slowly move the eyeball about 1/16th of an inch so he can get 2 seconds of footage in one week. It’s all such impressive and amazing work. It’s nominated for a Golden Globe and hopefully will get itself an Oscar nomination as well.
