UPDATED: New poster below!
The long-delayed HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton has a new red-band trailer to remind you just how R-rated it is, which isn’t by much judging from this. Sure there’s plenty of blood and gore, but most of it is CGI, which kind of dampens the whole thing. While I give props for even attempting to tell an R-rated tale like this, it doesn’t quite look like it will measure up. I call this R “light.”

Although I’m not too jazzed about the CGI blood here, I have to say that I’m intrigued by this film as it looks to be a terribly cheesy affair. Sometimes that can be a movie’s saving grace and it doesn’t appear that HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS is going for any golden statues. With that said, as silly as this looks it very well may be a lot of fun.
HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS is set for release in 2D and 3D on January 25, 2013.
