Reese Witherspoon set for another musical biopic

JoBloJoBlo

After winning an Oscar for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in WALK THE LINE, Reese Witherspoon looks set to return to the world of musical biopics. Witherspoon will produce and star in a Peggy Lee biopic for director Nora Ephron and producer Marc Platt (SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD).

Witherspoon purchased the rights to the singer’s life herself and brought them to Platt who she worked on the LEGALLY BLONDE films with. Lee was an accomplished jazz singer, songwriter and actor probably best known for her hit song “Fever” or her contributions to Disney’s LADY AND THE TRAMP (in addition to writing all the music for the film, she also provided the voice for Darling and the Siamese cats). She was though nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in PETE KELLY’S BLUES.

Witherspoon just wrapped filming on WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, also for Fox, and has HOW DO YOU KNOW? with Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson set for release this December.
