Back in August of last year, there was some question regarding whether or not the above imagery was a part of pre-production concepts for a possible upcoming Pixar project. Well, it is for an upcoming Pixar project… but not one you’d expect.
Called “Reign of the Dinosaurs”, Pixar’s project is in fact a television special made in collaboration with the Discovery Channel. Here’s the official line:
Avatar meets Jurassic Park as the latest paleontological research meets Hollywood story telling. Discovery Channel teams with the top creative talent from Disney and Pixar to create an unparalleled television event. New creatures abound in a wondrous new world – giant dinos with Freddy Krueger style clawed hands, pygmy T-rex, frogs so big they can eat dinosaurs.
