24 hours ago we let it be known Rian Johnson hired Shane Carruth to do the F/X on his new time-traveling assassins flick LOOPER. Now, our friends at /Film have scored a few prop design images for the film, which show some of the techno-gadgetry that will be used in the futuristic thriller. Scope em out below!

Some of said technology – speakers, a scooter, a bicycle, etc. – were created by local students attending University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Of several created, these were the ones chosen to be used in the film. Pretty cool shite!

With filming set to commence in New Orleans next week, LOOPER has recently added Xu Qing (below) to the cast – which also includes Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emily Blunt. Word is, since Johnson’s film is being largely funded by a Chinese production company called DMG, the filmmaker has rewritten his script to incorporate China as a major player in the story.

LOOPER is a science fiction thriller is set during a future in which time travel has been invented, with operatives (loopers) sent back to the present to assassinate criminals. Gordon-Levitt will play a man sent back to kill himself.

LOOPER looks to release in late 2012.
