Rickman joins Todd

JoBloJoBlo

Alan Rickman is many things to many people. To some, he’s the nefarious Hans Gruber. To others, he’s the dastardly Professor Snape. To me, he’s… well he’s Hans Gruber, but his Alexander Dane (AKA Dr. Lazarus) from GALAXY QUEST is in close running. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s soon to be Judge Turpin, the man who unjustly sends Benjamin Barker to prison and as a result is the target of the convict’s vengeance when he later becomes the titular barber in Tim Burton’s adaptation of SWEENEY TODD. In case you haven’t noticed, this thing has a ridiculous cast – including Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd, Sacha Baron Cohen as his rival, Signor Adolfo Pirell, and Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett – only made all the more ridiculous by the addition of Rickman. The guy can currently be seen in PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER and will of course be returning as Snape in HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX this June. TODD is scheduled to begin shooting next month.
