Has anyone adapted a Philip K. Dick work more adroitly than Ridley Scott? Maybe he should try it again…
And that, my friends, is the topic of this article. You see, Deadline has it that Scott is in line to bring a 4-hour mini-series to the BBC, one based on PKD’s acclaimed THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE tome.
Word is Scott will exec-produce for Howard Brenton, who will adapt the novel to the small screen. While not necessarily AITH material per se, any pairing of Scott and PKD is too good to pass up. Here’s a plot breakdown of the project:
The story of THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE about daily life under totalitarian Fascist imperialism, occurs in 1962, fourteen years after the end of a longer Second World War (1939–1948). The victorious Axis Powers — Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany — are conducting intrigues against each other in North America, specifically in the former U.S., which surrendered to them once they had conquered Eurasia and destroyed the populaces of Africa.
While not necessarily horror, the line between what’s real and imaginary is set to play a major part of the story. Always a good sign!
