You might think that there are more than enough movies and TV shows about World War II out there, but that hasn't stopped Hollywood from returning to that well again and again. Deadline reports that the latest WWII series will be Roads to Freedom, a ten-episode epic that hails from Ridley Scott and Steven Knight. You certainly have my attention.

Based upon the books by Sir Antony Beevor, Roads to Freedom is aiming to tell a story using "fresh and unique perspectives." While the majority of WWII productions out there primarily revolve around the Americans or the British, Roads to Freedom will "portray the brutal realities from multiple viewpoints, with characters not only from the U.S. and U.K., but from Russia, Germany, France and other countries across the globe." The main emphasis will be on humanity, with characters struggling to survive as the race between East and West to capture Berlin will shed light on the beginnings of the Cold War. Ridley Scott will direct the first episode of the series, with Steven Knight and Sir Antony Beevor penning all of the episodes.

Roads to Freedom is just one of several projects that Ridley Scott is working on, as he wrapped production on The Last Duel starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Ben Affleck late last year, and is currently shooting House of Gucci with Lady Gaga and Adam Driver right now. Once Scott completes production on House of Gucci, he'll be moving right on to Kitbag, a Napoleon Bonaparte biopic that stars Joaquin Phoenix and Jodie Comer. The dude likes to keep busy.
